Qcin 300mg Capsule is an antibiotic that treats acne (pimples). It contains Clindamycin which works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, which inhibits bacterial growth. It shows a bacteriostatic effect, which stops bacterial reproduction but doesn't kill them.
Common side effects may include abdominal discomfort, esophagitis, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, pruritus, skin rashes, and urticaria.
Qcin is effective against upper and lower respiratory infections, skin and soft tissue infections, bone and joint infections, pelvic infections, and intra-abdominal infections, and can be used in combination with other medications to treat multi-drug resistant Plasmodium falciparum infections.
Clindamycin, the active ingredient in Qcin, is used to treat serious infections caused by susceptible anaerobic bacteria and certain gram-positive bacteria. It is also used topically for acne treatment and in other formulations for bacterial vaginosis.
The dosage of Clindamycin varies depending on the type and severity of the infection. It can be administered orally, topically, or intravenously. It should be taken with a full glass of water to prevent esophageal irritation.
Clindamycin can interact with neuromuscular blockers and erythromycin. Caution should be exercised when using these medications together.
Qcin is contraindicated in individuals who have previously had a positive reaction to clindamycin or any of its components.
Qcin is classified as Pregnancy Category B, but it can pass through the placenta and into breast milk. Its use during pregnancy and breastfeeding should be considered carefully and used only when necessary.
